Concord Police and Fire Departments to Host Public Safety Open House

CONCORD — Police Chief Joseph O’Connor and Acting Fire Chief Thomas Judge are pleased to announce that the Concord Police and Fire Departments are hosting their annual open house and invite the public to attend.

WHEN:
Saturday, Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WHERE:
Concord Public Safety Building, 219 Walden St. (Parking available at Concord District Court, 305 Walden St., and the Alcott School, 93 Laurel St.

WHAT:
Residents are invited to join the Concord Police and Fire Departments, along with the town’s community partners, for an open house next month.

“This is a great opportunity for residents to learn more about the members of their police and fire departments, along with the services we provide,” Chief O’Connor said. “We encourage community members to drop by, ask questions and enjoy the day.”

The event will include tours of the police and fire stations, a car seat installation checkpoint and the chance to get a closer look inside the NEMLEC SWAT BearCat armored vehicle and fire trucks.

“We’re looking forward to getting to know residents and sharing what their public safety departments have been up to over the last year,” Chief Judge said. “We hope residents will come out and join us for this fun and relaxed event.”

Attendees will also have the chance to learn more about the Concord Police Department’s motorcycle and mountain bike unit, community service unit, Rape Aggression Defense course, Citizens Police Academy, the medication drop box and the Drug Awareness Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program. The Fire Department will provide resources on fire safety, emergency medical services and smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Information will also be available on the Domestic Violence Services Network, Communities for Restorative Justice and the Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s Office.

Free ice cream will be available to all!
