Yesterday, Sergeant Jeffrey Young led our Department’s Honor Guard during the annual Memorial Day ceremonies. As the ceremonies were ending his attention was drawn to a four year old boy who was choking. Sergeant Young immediately responded to the child. He provided first aid and delivered repeated back blows which resulted in a ball of candy that had obstructed the airway being propelled from the child’s throat onto the ground. The Concord Fire Department arrived on scene and after they assessed the child, he was able to go home with his parents. Well done Sergeant Young!
