Chief Joseph O’Connor reports that a man has drowned while swimming in White Pond on Monday.
The Concord Police and Fire Departments responded to the shore off the eastern portion of White Pond at 2:18 p.m. after receiving a 911 call that a person had been pulled from the water and that CPR was in progress.
Police officers and firefighters responded and continued lifesaving efforts on the victim, believed to be a man in his 70s. The victim was taken to Emerson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The facts and circumstances of this incident are under investigation.
The identity of the victim is not being released at this time, pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
