CONCORD — Police Chief Thomas Mulcahy and Fire Chief Thomas Judge report that the Concord Police and Fire Departments are actively investigating four fires that appear to be suspicious.
On Sunday, July 9, at approximately 12 p.m. Concord Police and Fire received reports of a fire occurring at the Beede Swim Center, 498 Walden St.
Upon arrival crews located two fires, one of which was behind the swim center and the other was located in front of the center.
There were no reported injuries.
At approximately, 12:30 p.m. Concord Police and Fire received another report of a fire at the U.S. Post Office located at 34 Walden St.
There were no reported injuries.
At approximately, 1 p.m. a fourth fire was reported at a shed located on National Park Property at 955 Lexington Road.
There were no reported injuries.
At this time the cause of the fires has been deemed suspicious and is under investigation by Concord Police with assistance from the National Park Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), Massachusetts State Police, and the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Investigating parties have identified a person of interest at this time.
Additionally, items that are possibly related to the other incidents were located outside of Concord District Court. All incidents remain under investigation.
